Despite the urge to stay indoors with rain and cold temps for summer weather, this weekend was insanely busy . Saturday I participated as a vendor for the Northwest Championships and marketed photo services to my new group of clients, professional figure, fitness, and bikini athletes. I LOVE the dedication these women put forth towards shaping their body and minds to achieve goals. Its amazing to say the least! I shoot model portfolios for them, some of which could be featured in Oxygen magazine soon. Fingers crossed!
Sunday was met with early anticipation and puffy eyes from the previous late night! 14 photo shoots back to back for the Save Fitness team. Tanji Johnson is the coach and founder of the team. She is an IFBB pro, previously an American Gladiator, and a positive force of womanhood. She's also and military brat like myself. From the minute you meet Tanji, she is 100% joy and excitement. I had the opportunity to shoot her in a bikini in Times Square, will blog that soon! Anyhow, here are some camera phone pics from the show and some behind the scenes from the shoot on Sunday in Tacoma. You would be surprised how comfortable these women are in less than ideal situations, fragments of clothing, and with lots of stares. They brush it off like nothing!

Hello Friends and stalkers, Happy Monday! I've been in town for nearly 3 1/2 weeks and enjoying every minute of it! Being back in Tacoma equates to a lot more blogging, faster turnaround times, and a jam packed studio. The travel bug is gone, at least temporarily. I love traveling but homecoming is equally awesome!
Here's a tasty tidbit for you this morning, please meet Kiana Phi, an amazing IFBB Pro Figure competitor. She is an accomplished lady of fitness who drove up from Oregon to shoot a boudoir session with me. After exchanging ideas on her goals for the shoot, we determined her need for "modern classy meets sexy fitness chick." She loved her images so much that after viewing, she launched an entirely new website using the photos from our shoot. I'm delighted to see her profession as an image consultant, trainer and speaker, take off to the stars! Here's a screen grab from her site. Its been a pleasure shooting for print work and advertising genres in recent months!
As a side note, Kiana hired Irene Deneen, my favorite Tacoma makeup artist, for boudoir hair & makeup. You should not book a pro photo session without pro makeup. Seriously, don't try to do it yourself! Would you operate on your own knee? Of course course not. Pamper yourself and add hair & makeup to your boudoir session for the ultimate experience!

I'm excited to see Carina & Stren's wedding published in Your Wedding Day magazine! You might want to see my blog post about their Lopez Island wedding to soak up the luscious details at Rocky R Ranch.
YWD is my all-time FAVORITE wedding magazine and I'm elated to take part in it! It was a blast getting to know Carina & Stren over the months leading up to their nuptuals and working behind the scenes with NW Event Success, City Catering, Butler Valet, and Austin Beaver. This gorgeous 3 page spread dishes on all the details of signature drinks, flowers, amazing dress, toothpaste colored Christian Louboutin shoes, and much more! To see the full spread, download the full version HERE!
Also, for photographers, Matt Grossman assisted for me at Carina and Stren's wedding and continues to help me shoot this season. However, Matt will launch his own wedding gigs and will be scarcely assisting. If you are looking for second shooting opportunities with me in WA, OR, AZ, SoCal and beyond for 2010 and 2011, send an email to april@aprilgreer.com and be sure to mention where you live, your traveling capabilities, and of course, your website!

It just occurred to me that you haven't seen pictures of our new meathead, SCULLY! These are 2 boxer rescues from Tacoma. Bruiser was adopted in 2009, you may have seen pictures of him already. We fell head over heels for this guy but quickly realized he needed companionship. We stopped into the Tacoma Humane Society 3 months ago and found him a female companion, Scully. While Bruiser was abandoned and comes with a lot of emotional baggage like separation anxiety, general mopiness without Ray, and hardships with socialization, Scully, was seized by the city. Her previous owner was arrested and Scully was transferred to adoptions. We had a rough time getting her home because of the paperwork involved and waiting for the jail, etc, but after a long wait we brought her home!
|

I watching them run around the yard. Dogs are awesome entertainment. Boxers in particular are busy dogs, there's always something to guard, or bark at, or eat. Bruiser and Scully dig holes, eat grass, and share in the blame when things go wrong.
|

| Scully is a cutie pie. She is a licker, a lover, a sweetie, and most importantly, a trash digger! Lucky us!
|

| Here they are getting lectured about "running around the house."
|

Bruiser still doesn't appreciate her all the time, the first couple of weeks were rough.
|

Its too bad they can't have puppies because both are fixed, who wouldn't want to see little puppies from this face??
|

| She's curious but not adventurous like Bruiser.
|

| They both require a daunting amount of patience, love, and training! We are excited being boxer parents, it is never a dull moment. We're down 2 lunch boxes, 4 pillows, 3 sets of blinds, and a couple pairs of panties.

| I had the pleasure of visiting Forks, Washington for my 30th birthday. Three decades, it was a hard one to swallow. Forks, the town, is TINY and naturally the dogs were driving us bananas to go on walks. All that can be seen of Forks is finished in under 30 minutes. I went there, didn't see Edward or Jacob, and jumped back in the car. A few miles from Forks lies one of my favorite places in the Northwest, Ruby Beach. It was Scully and Bruiser's first walk at Ruby Beach, which is darn near the northern most part of the state. If you can imagine a beautiful, uninhibited beach to wash away your worries, here you go. It was one of the most memorable birthdays ever. I fell in a tidepool up to my thighs. Scully and Bruiser played "bite the waves" and we made jokes about Vampire Burgers, Twilight firewood, and spent 3.5 hours driving through gorgeous tree farms. Thank you to my husband and two dogs who love walking and adventures. It was a great experience!

Check out this sneak peek from a recent Bay Area wedding. Thank you Karissa and John for making the day incredibly exciting to photograph!
