On Kauai it seems to rain nearly everyday. While shooting Melody and Nick's lovestory session, it began to POUR. Fat droplets took over while the sun peeked through the clouds. Not to worry. It rarely lasts more than 5 minutes. My thing is vibrant color photography, but this one was so serene, it didn't need color. I underexposed to pull in the clouds. ISO 400,  1/100 at f/14.  with the sexy 24mm lens.  You'll love Melody & Nick's groovy island wedding, but hang tight while I unpack my suitcases and get caught up with boudoir, engagement and weddings. This blog will be hoppin again in no time. Congrats to Nemo (their wedding nickname) and Happy Birthday to Melody!

06.17.09  |  Weddings

On June 13, 2009 Kim and Brad tied the knot at Tsillan Cellars in Chelan, WA.  The wedding was delightfully vibrant. We have tons of pictures to dive into over the next couple of weeks. While transferring the files from my camera this afternoon,  this little snapshots caught my eye. Kim was being photographed outside the doorway by Kelly, filmed by Aaron and simultaneously adored by bridesmaids lined up outside. Hustle and hectic waited outside the doorway, but in this tiny room, it was just Kim and myself. Its the few minutes I treasure with the bride before she sees her groom. I don't know what crossed Kim's mind when I called her, but when she looked, I fired off 5 frames. This is the fifth frame.

Thanks Kim and Brad for giving me your all! You won't be disappointed. I wish you a lovely honeymoon! Much more to come soon.

Shot with the 85mm, at f 1.8, 1/250 at ISO 250.

Midway through the first year, my studio space is busting at the seams. After crunching numbers and downing lots of Haagen Daaz, it is time to expand, again! Here's a snapshot of the new space. It has more light, triple the square footage, and finally gives me the chance to do away with the home office.  Some people love the idea of working in their jammies. Trust me, the thrill wears off.

This will be the new location for Seattle, Portland, and Tacoma boudoir photography.   My athlete photography will gear up as well as model portfolios!  Consultations will be held here for weddings, too!  I'm most excited about the space for use in commerical and fashion shoots.  Thanks to everyone who responded with my questions about their initial studio experience! You definately helped make this process exciting and positive. I'll post photos as we begin the process of renovation. Also, I'm on the hunt for dedicated individuals in summer work & internship opportunities. If interested, mail your stats to:  april@aprilgreer.com

06.09.09  |  Engagements

A little over 1 month ago Marie and Justin kanoodled their way through an engagement session in downtown Portland on a lovely spring day. The lighting was scrumptuous, their outfits vibrant, and spirits uplifted! Justin likes his beer dark and his shoes comfortable. Marie is a self-proclaimed book-nook and at one time had to cut back her spending habits at Borders. She also has super sexy legs!  Their Irish and Chinese cultures collide for a fabulous celebration of America at its best. I can't wait until September to see them in action. Here they are, my downtown Portland kanoodlers.

Justin has such a calm nature and a genuine sense of humor.

We stumbled upon a pinkish wall that matched her shirt. There was no end to our discovery of things. Portland is FULL of surprises!

Textures and patterns popped up everywhere.

They have a bubbly chemistry and didn't mind a quick split on the sidewalk.

The ever-famous Portland sign hung above reaching to the sky, but I like what I found underneath the sign much better.

Told you she had great legs!   Thanks Marie and Justin, it was a fun and you know we had great laughs!

Snapped this photo in the cab on our way to Times Square. Its not my usual crystal clear picture, but I thought you should see it anyways. Thanks Avanie and Sean for letting me break the rules. We had a speedy shoot in NYC yesterday. After hopping on the ferry to Hoboken, we sped back to the condo, threw my gear in the back, and hauled it to Newark. Caught the flight back to Seattle and hugged my honey in the elevator.  Honestly, it was an great trip! Photography hardly seems like work when you have fun with your models. From their shoot, I have enough pictures to blog for a month! Its officially wedding season now, so get ready for lots and lots of pics.
