It was a stroke of luck finding this building in 2008. Its not hard to miss the building, but its easy to overlook the obvious. I have to thank my husband's sweet tooth for discovering it. We stumbled into Corina Bakery looking for cake and saw a studio for rent sign hung next door. A couple months later I had moved into the Merlino Arts Center with a small studio 13x21 feet. It had large windows and high ceilings. It was a relief to move the studio outside the home. No more boudoir in the basement. No more scrambles to clean up our dinner table for meetings.  8 months into the lease, studio growing pains were very real. I tried to make it work for as long as possible. One day, I stubbed a model's toe. The look on her face was like a realization that this space was not going to work for much longer! At the same time, I was dying to move out of my home office. I wanted a studio that fit my office and shooting space under one roof. Surprisingly, the pilates tenants vacated a huge space next door. The studio measured about 24 x 60 feet. It was a quick transfer for the lease and a huge increase in rent. It never felt like home. Not until I worked with Minor Details.  Scott Neste is the brains behind Minor Details Design Co. I've seen his work in lots of places. One day, frustrated with the cavernous and echoing studio, I marched over to Scott and asked for his help. He has a knack for design on a dime projects. Within 24 hours he came up with an dynamic sketch for my studio.  See below.

Within two weeks we scheduled our construction project with SE Construction's Scott Nutter. He totally rocked out my place while I was on vacation.  He does renovation projecs big and small. Check out his site here: http://seconstruction.biz

This is looking through the new dressing room and utility space.

Office cube in the making!

Check back for more photos on the final results! They're crazy!!!  Thanks to Liz, Scott, and Scott! I'm so glad I did this project with such amazing people.  I know I'm not good with decorating! It only made sense to have outside help. Lots more later, come back soon!
